“We were honored to review the variety of artwork submitted to no place like home for Midwest Nice online exhibition. Each artist took us on a visual journey on how they defined “home.” As we viewed the works we thought about the visual and material layers that expressed the theme. Home is a special, yet multifaceted word, and the 35 works selected showcase these layers. We were really drawn to the work that visually plays with what “home” is but there was still enough space for the viewer. The selected work explored home as a place and as a person but also paid homage to the past through playfulness, memories, and fears. We also want to thank everyone who applied and congratulations to the selected artists.”
